Maintenance & Engineering Careers Day
This Careers Day experience is designed to showcase the leisure sector and the different maintenance and engineering roles within it.
Designed with 10 to 18-year-olds in mind, this programme will explore communication, teamwork, problem solving, listening skills, presentation skills, decision making and safety critical factors.
Students will be able to hear from a member of the Gulliver's Crew, discussing the history of the company and the leisure industry, highlighting the different maintenance roles within it.
A guided tour will then take place exploring the Resort, incorporating mini talks in specific departments such as rides, grounds and maintenance.
The students will also explore the history behind The Antelope Wooden Rollercoaster, which was built and designed in-house by the team over 30 years ago.
Careers Activities

Ride Inspections and Checks
Students will explore why rides are inspected and the processes behind fault finding, health and safety, QR code checks, ride envelope and lock-offs.

Risk Assessments
Students will explore the purpose behind Risk Assessments and why they were are completed. The group will then be invited to spot potential hazards and complete their own risk assessment on an attraction.

Design & Build a Ride
Students will be invited to design their own ride and be asked to think about the different factors involved.
They'll consider the different types of ride (water, vertical, track etc) and the gravity and forces involved.
They will present their design to the rest of the group when complete.

Ride Strip Down
Students will take part in a practical activity, removing and putting on harnesses and putting wheels back on to a carriage or car.
